MEET JATAUN
Thirty seconds on what Synergy Link Community Alliance is building: thrift stores that fund real jobs, money skills that last, and support that helps seniors stay independent.
TRANSCRIPT
Recorded under our earlier working name, Synergy Link Foundation.
I’m Jataun, and this is Synergy Link Foundation.
Too many people come home and get handed another program instead of a paycheck.
We’re building something different. Our thrift stores turn donations into real jobs, real skills, and a real second chance.
We teach money skills that last, and we help seniors stay independent.
This program is sponsored by reformed individuals, people who know the road.
Don’t tell me about another program. Show me the job.
OUR MISSION
People are left at the edge of progress, without the next step. Classes and counseling matter, but too often they stop short of a job.
Synergy Link Community Alliance is sponsored by reformed individuals who know the road. We build pathways that end in a paycheck, then stay close while that paycheck turns into stability.
THE THREE PILLARS

01
Practical money skills that survive the first paycheck: budgeting, banking access, and habits that stick.

02
Community aid and program design around incarceration recovery. Support that points to real work, not paperwork alone.

03
Independence and wellbeing for elders: companionship, stable housing pathways, and dignity that lasts.
PROGRAMS
PRISON REFORM AND REENTRY
Link Forward starts before release and ends in a paycheck. Job readiness and money skills inside, ID and documents ready at the gate, and a transitional job on the thrift floor waiting on the outside. We measure what matters: jobs kept and people who stay home.
Inside-out pathways
Pre-release job readiness, financial literacy, and ID and document prep, linked to thrift transitional jobs on release.
Family and community
Reentry kits for the first 30 days and help with rides to visitation, so families stay connected.
Fair-chance employers
A network of Charlotte employers who pledge to judge people by skills and the work in front of them.
Community voice
Forums, storytelling by reformed individuals, and plain-language reports on reentry barriers in North Carolina.
Evidence and data
Tracking employment, retention, and return rates for participants, so results are shown, not promised.
Policy education
Nonpartisan research and education on fair-chance practices, within the limits that apply to charities.
Nonpartisan education and support. Legal help comes only through licensed attorney and legal aid partners.

THRIFT JOBS
A thrift aisle that funds a second chance. Donations and sales power local service: job coaching, reentry aid, and senior wellbeing.
Retail with a mission, measured by paychecks started.
COMING SOON
YOUTH PROGRAM
Year-round basketball training for Charlotte youth, led by a former college and overseas professional player. Every session pairs real skill work on the court with a short lesson in money skills.
Year-round clinics
Fall and spring skills clinics built on fundamentals, footwork, and team play.
Holiday and summer camps
Camps over Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and summer, with seats held for families who need them.
Private lessons
One-on-one and small group training all year for players who want to level up.
Money skills on the court
Budgeting, saving, and smart choices taught alongside the game, so players leave with more than a jump shot.
